Stacking your Biohacking

With brain health and cognitive enhancing vitamins taking the world (and internet) by storm. We thought we should take this opportunity to get you up on the latest lingo. Don’t worry, those nootropics you’re now taking have sharpened your memory so that you can remember all of these terms with ease ;).

Biohacking: Dave Asprey, the Bulletproof guru, defines “biohacking” as: “the art and science of changing the environment around you and inside you so that you have full control over your own biology.” Biohacking can encompass everything from meditation and intermittent fasting to taking cocktails of daily supplements and nootropics.

Cognitive Function: Mental processes that allow us to carry out any task. They allow the us to have an active role in the processes of receiving, choosing, transforming, storing, processing and retrieval of information, allowing the us to navigate our world.

Earthing/ Grounding: Earthing (or grounding) is the idea that physically connecting to the earth can offer you numerous benefits. Benefits include improved sleep quality increased blood flow and a reduction of pain. You’re being ‘connected’ to conductive systems that transfer the earth’s electrons from the ground into the body.

GMP: Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is a system for ensuring that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards. It is designed to minimize the risks involved in any pharmaceutical production that cannot be eliminated through testing the final product. If you’re purchasing any supplements, ensure that they were manufactured in a GMP lab.

Nootropics: are drugs, supplements, and other substances that may improve cognitive function, particularly executive functions, memory, creativity, or motivation, in healthy individuals.

Stacking: We’re specifically talking about supplement stacking here – the practice of using complimentary nutritional supplements in careful balance (maximizing effectiveness while minimizing side effects) to beef up your ability to achieve a specific physical or even mental goal.
